Description
N.S. Meyer, Inc. was a New York City-based company that sold military insignia. The company was founded in 1906 by Nathan S. Meyer (1870-1935). Nathan's father, Simon N. Meyer (1843-after 1910), started a business in Washington, D.C. as early as 1868. Simon's business sold gold and silver trimmings and was listed under "Regalia" in the 1880s and 1890s. In July 2000, Vanguard purchased all the assets of N. S. Meyer, Inc. of New York City, which had been in operation since 1868. In 2009, Vanguard donated N. S. Meyer's vast collection of military insignia to the National Museum of the United States Army.
