(The New Testament in Greek and Latin, according to the old, both in Greek and Latin: the most excellent copies, the most accurate care and diligence of D. Erasmus of Rotterdam.) Offered here is an original 1543 Paris printing of the New Testament in Greek and Latin, issued by the celebrated Paris printer Charlotte Guillard under the title " Novum Testamentum Graece et Latine ". This is an early Erasmus-based bilingual edition, printed in octavo with the Greek and Latin texts in parallel columns for scholarly and devotional use. An appealing and substantial 16th-century biblical imprint, this copy retains an old full leather binding with raised bands and very good shelf presence. It measures 7 x 5 x 1.75 inches. Condition is good antique condition overall for 16th-century New Testament. Binding is rubbed, with chipping and loss at the spine ends and corners. Missing the first title page, replaced with facsimile leaf . Second title page is present. Golden edges, golden tooling on read board, but not front board - potentially rebound. Rear board is detached . There is an internal split at one opening, though the volume remains well together. The text block shows age toning and expected wear from use, with an old ownership inscription on a front blank. The pages are legible and attractive, with strong typographic impression and the bilingual layout. Please review photos carefully for the best condition assessment. This is a desirable early Paris New Testament for collectors of Renaissance printing, Erasmus editions, Charlotte Guillard imprints, and biblical scholarship in Greek and Latin.
