Offered here is an original 18th-century engraved portrait, published in 1770, depicting William Beckford, Lord Mayor of London and Member of Parliament. Measures approx 12x16” including frame. This is an authentic period copperplate engraving, hand-colored, and presented in a matching carved wood period frame. It is not a modern reproduction. Publication details (from the plate): “London: Published as the Act directs, A.D. 1770” Printed for Carrington Bowles, No. 69, St. Paul’s Church Yard ⸻ Details: • Date: 1770 • Print type: Original copperplate engraving / mezzotint • Coloring: Hand-colored (original) • Subject: William Beckford, Lord Mayor of London • Frame: Period carved wood frame with original aged surface A clear plate mark is visible along the lower edge of the image, confirming copperplate printing.
