The Lincoln Memorial: A Record of Life, Assassination, Obsequies of the Martyred President is a historical book compiled and edited by John Gilmary Shea in 1865, by Bunce & Huntington in New York Published shortly after Abraham Lincoln's death, it serves as a primary record of the nation's immediate response to the assassination . It was one of the first comprehensive memorial volumes created to preserve the details of Lincoln's life and the global impact of his death Content Life & Career : A detailed account of Lincoln’s early life, political rise, and presidency . Assassination : Coverage of the events at Ford's Theatre and the subsequent manhunt for John Wilkes Booth . Obsequies : Extensive documentation of the public mourning, the funeral train's journey, and burial in Springfield, Illinois . This book is in rather poor condition. The main body is mostly still intact, but has separated from the spine. The front plate pages to the preface are detached, as well as page 15. Many of the pages are stained, which I have shown photos of just a sample of the worse ones. There are more throughout the book. In spite of these issues, the book is very readable
