This very attractive medal, catalogued as so-called dollar HK-245a, is a souvenir of the 1894 California Midwinter Exposition, an official world's fair held in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California. The entire design is very high-relief (three-dimensional). The obverse design is based upon the California State Seal, and the reverse has the words THE LAND OF SUNSHINE FRUIT AND FLOWERS SOUVENIR CALIFORNIA MIDWINTER EXPOSTION 1894 . The composition is brass, and t he diameter is approximately 34 mm (1-3/8"). [6624Z] This medal is in extremely fine condition, with very light actual wear, with toning and some soiling. The medal remains bright, with a very good toned brass color. The illustrations in this listing are photos of the actual item being offered for sale, serving as part of the description. NOTE: The actual medal has more detail, has a better toned brass color, is brighter, and is more attractive than in the photos. Also, the spots in the photos are not nearly as apparent on the actual medal. This is a very nice example of this attractive medal! Payment must be received within ten days of close of auction.
