Step 2: Engage the trigger and then pull back the red lever. This causes the chain to contact the internal sharpening stone. Step 3: Hold the trigger and keep the lever pulled back for 3 to 5 seconds to sharpen the entire chain, and then release. After 3 to 5 seconds, the chain works like new.
