1917 Book For Old Acquantice E T Hurley Prints from Etchings.Hurley worked at Rookwood Pottery in Cincinnati from 1896 to 1948. The forward in this book was written by Sara Sax, who was a premier artist at Rookwood at this time. I also have a piece of her pottery listed made in 1905. The book is signed and presented to the Carder family of Boone County KY 11-24-17. 1985 Cincinnati Newspaper article included, also in photos. E. T. Hurley www.nkyviews.com Edward T. Hurley (1869-1950) was one of the most celebrated decorators at Rookwood Pottery in Cincinnati. He was also a prolific artist known for watercolors and etchings. He studied at Xavier University and the Cincinnati Art Academy, 1894-98, with Otto Walter Beck, and Frank Duveneck. Hurley lived in Northern Kentucky, and Kentucky, as well as Cincinnati, supplied much of his subject matter. This WPA-era image of My Old Kentucky Home, or Federal Hill, in Bardstown, is one of them. He also did scenes of Churchill Downs, Cumberland Falls and many Northern Kentucky river scenes. He was a member of the Cincinnati Society of Etchers, Society of American Etchers, Ohio Print Makers, The Crafters, Cincinnati Art Club, and the Duveneck Society of Painters and Sculptors. . The painting of Mr. Hurley is by another Cincinnati artist of some note, H. H. Wessels
