1993 Colorado Rockies old logo Coors Light Home Opener commemorative beer bottle. Test Run, never released for sale because of problems and errors - see below. This brown beer bottle measures about 9-3/4" tall and is empty, as they were never filled. Some of the employees have filled these, added a cap, or both, but they were not originally found that way. Above the Rockies logo is "Inaugural Season", in white, and below the logo is "1st Official Game April 9, 1993 Colorado vs Montreal" ( Expos ). As the original story goes, only 48 were made and it is believed that the concept was scrapped because of registration problems between the various print runs, and because the logo is wrong. Looking at the bottle, you can see that the red and white are not correctly aligned. Checking the logo, it's the old logo that was used, and subsequently changed, before the team even played it's first game, but even this logo is wrong in that the ball is flying in the wrong direction. Registration with the logo is also off with the dark layer shifted right compared to the white layer. There are variations, because of the registration and the colors can be in somewhat different locations when compared to the underlying white. The story that I heard from a number of employees was that the bottles that were made in the test were left for employees to take if they were interested. While noone could give me a number as to how many were made, the original official story was 48, but based on my own un-scientific guesstimate from people I have talked to, I would say maybe 200 but it's a pure guess. No chips, cracks, or problems. These routinely sold for $300-350 in the 90's. 12-ounce size bottle and screw off cap type top. A true Rockies rarity, as most people have never even heard of these, no less seen one.
