Description

1993 Texaco Davey Allison #28 Ford Thunderbird Die-Cast Bank – 1:24 Scale NASCAR Havoline Car – New in Bag with Box Bring home one of the most iconic looks in early-1990s NASCAR with this Texaco / Havoline #28 Ford Thunderbird die-cast bank from the 1993 Collector Series. This officially licensed Racing Champions / Action Performance piece captures Davey Allison’s famous black and neon-lettered Thunderbird in substantial 1:24 scale die-cast metal, complete with a working coin bank and key. If you grew up watching the Winston Cup on Sunday afternoons, that bold red 28 slicing through the field is burned into your memory. This bank lets you park that memory right on your shelf. Item Details Driver: Davey Allison Car: #28 Texaco Havoline Ford Thunderbird Year / Series: 1993 Collector Series Die-Cast Bank Scale: 1:24 (listed on box as “authentic 1/24 scale replica”) Material: 100% die-cast metal body Function: Locking coin bank with key (bank and key still bagged) Manufacturers: Racing Champions / distributed by Action Performance Companies, Inc. Sponsorships featured: Texaco, Havoline, Ford, Goodyear and period-correct contingency decals Packaging: Original illustrated box with checkered-flag graphics, inner foam and car still wrapped in protective bag Condition Car: Still wrapped in the original protective plastic, with graphics and paint protected from handling. Decals and colors present sharply through the wrapper – this looks like it has never been displayed. As with any factory-packed die-cast, a light dusting or polishing after unbagging will make it really pop under display lights. Bank function: Integrated coin slot and locking compartment on the underside. Matching key included inside the packaging, as pictured, so you can actually use it as a bank and still get your change back. Box: Original Texaco / Davey Allison checkered-border box in nice shape for its age. Shows light shelf and storage wear: small edge rubs, tiny dings or wrinkles, and minor surface marks from being moved and stored over the years. Colors and graphics remain bright, very displayable alongside the car. Please review all photos closely – they are part of the description and show the exact car and box you’ll receive. A Little History – Davey Allison, the #28, and the Havoline Era Davey Allison was one of NASCAR’s brightest stars of the late 1980s and early 1990s. The son of Hall-of-Famer Bobby Allison and a core member of the “Alabama Gang,” Davey rocketed up through the ranks with a hard-charging, never-quit driving style. In the black Texaco Havoline Fords, he became a weekly contender on the Winston Cup circuit: Multiple race wins and consistent top-five finishes across superspeedways, short tracks and road courses. The #28 Havoline Ford Thunderbird became one of the most recognizable paint schemes on the track – the black body, bold red 28s, and Texaco star on the hood shouted speed even when the car was parked. Davey captured the Daytona 500 in 1992 , cementing his status as a fan favorite and championship threat. His career was tragically cut short in 1993 after a helicopter accident at Talladega, leaving fans with a deep sense of “what might have been” and making authentic pieces from his era especially meaningful to collectors. This bank represents that unforgettable early-90s moment: Winston Cup races on Sunday, foam #28 fingers in the stands, the smell of race gas, and the roar of Thunderbird V8s banging doors for position. About the Car & Sponsors Texaco / Havoline: Longtime NASCAR backers, Texaco used the Havoline brand to showcase high-performance oils and lubricants. Their campaigns around the #28 car were everywhere in the early 90s – TV spots, posters, gas stations and promo items like this bank. Ford Thunderbird: The aero-styled Thunderbird was Ford’s stock-car weapon before the Taurus era, with sleek body lines that translated perfectly into die-cast form. Goodyear: The yellow-letter Goodyear Eagles on this car complete the authentic race look and call back to the days when tire wars and fuel strategy were as big a story as the drivers themselves. For NASCAR fans, each logo on the car is a time capsule: contingency decals stacked on the fender, bold Havoline script on the quarter panel, and that Texaco star that told you the black 28 was coming. Display Ideas & Collector Appeal Perfect centerpiece for a Davey Allison tribute shelf , NASCAR man cave, garage office, game room, or bar area. Works great alongside other Texaco , Havoline , or vintage service station collectibles. Because it’s a bank, it’s both a display piece and a functional item – drop in your spare change after every race and let the #28 guard your savings. Great gift for longtime NASCAR fans who remember Davey’s battles with Dale Earnhardt, Bill Elliott, Rusty Wallace, Alan Kulwicki and others from that legendary era. For Die-Cast & Motorsports Collectors Harder-to-find Davey Allison piece that combines NASCAR, Texaco, and die-cast bank collecting in one item. Licensed product with detailed tampo printing and correct 1993 graphics. Larger 1:24 scale gives it real presence on the shelf – this is not a tiny promo; it’s a substantial display model with weight and detail. Appeals to collectors of Racing Champions , Action Performance , Texaco promos , and vintage NASCAR banks. Approximate Specs Scale: 1:24 Length: About the size of a standard 1:24 stock car (roughly 8–9 inches bumper to bumper) Construction: Die-cast metal body with plastic interior and detail pieces Features: Bank slot, locking underside compartment, key included (Measurements are approximate; see photos for relative size.) Shipping & Combined Orders Carefully packed for safe travel: car will remain in its protective bag inside the box, and the box will be padded and protected in a larger shipping carton. 1. Postage and customs from the US was very reasonable, came out as Royal Mail last mile at my end, which was also nice, value for money. The item was extremely well packaged with care. This was like a parcel from a personal friend with the extra stickers on the outside and complimentary sticker and welcome note inside. What's nice about this community sometimes is dealers like this one. I have needed this 300c for a long time and it was as described. Would trade with again, many thanks!

  2. The caboose was well packed and arrived without new damage. I think it was a good value as the damage was disclosed before the sale so I got exactly what I expected. The repairs have been made and it is ready for service lacking only a coupler I've yet to install. The seller was responsive to messages. I would buy from this seller again.
