All American Vintage No. 7 Pressure Canner/Cooker Aluminum 15-1/2qt. Tested. This pressure canner/cooker is in good used working condition. I tested for operation on a propane cooker by adding about 2" of water as if I were canning. The cooker was not level which have been the cause (or too much water). This auction is for a used tested vintage All American No. 7 pressure canner/ cooker. It is made of heavy cast aluminum and has a metal-to-metal seal which does not require a rubber seal. It has a handle, pressure gauge, control valve, and a brass safety seal on the lid. It has 6 bake lite wing nuts to tighten the lid. It measures 12-5/8" inside diameter x 7-1/2" inside height and weighs about 15-1/2 pounds. It has 15-1/2 quarts liquid capacity and will hold 7-quart jars or 10-pint jars for canning. It does NOT come with an inner rack or instructions. This canner can be fitted with a stem and weighted gauge in place of the control valve if desired. (The propane cooker shown in the pictures while testing is Not included.) This pressure canner/cooker is in good used working condition. I tested for operation on a propane cooker by adding about 2" of water as if I were canning. There were a few drips around the safety seal and control valve until pressure was built, which is normal. I heated until a steady stream of steam was emitted from all 4 ports of the control valve and then closed the valve. The pressure gauge began to rise and reached 15 pounds within a few minutes (picture shown of operation). I turned the heat down and operated for several minutes maintaining pressure between 15 and 17 pounds. I saw a few drips and some steam on one side of the lid, but the pressure held and rose. The cooker was not level which have been the cause (or too much water). When closed, the control valve is designed to release all excess steam at 20-24 psi pressure for safety, but I did not operate at that pressure. I have not tested the pressure gauge for accuracy (county extension offices usually will test gauges for free). This canner has some scratches, spots, water stains, and handling wear throughout. The inside is darkened some from use, but it looks decent. The bake lite handle is tight and in good condition. The wing nuts and bolts are in good condition with no damage. This is a nice canner for its age. It does not look to have been used very much over the years. It will need more cleaning on the inside if you are using to cook food. I have used an All-American canner for many years (not this one) and they are top of the line in my opinion. Please see pictures and ask questions if needed.
