Each Altra shoe is built on a Balanced Cushioned platform that positions the heel and forefoot equidistant from the ground, so with 0mm offset, or ZeroDrop™. This natural foundation encourages better alignment, a better running style and a low-impact landing. Whether you prefer maximum cushioning, low cushioning or something in between, Balanced Cushioning lets your feet move naturally with every step. Midsole The Escalante Racer has a Standard FootShape™ fit, which does not restrict the movement of the foot, but still fits comfortably around the foot. A slightly harder foam is used in the midsole with good energy return. This foam has been specially developed to offer you the most comfort during your run, regardless of the distance. The Innerflex™ technology has been applied to the foam. This is the grid of slots that cut through the entire midsole, both vertically and horizontally. This makes the shoe lighter and more flexible without sacrificing cushioning. Upper This shoe has a knitted upper, making the material seamless and able to stretch with your foot. The knitted upper also has high breathability to keep your feet cool. Altra's Fit4Her™ technology ensures that the shoe conforms to the unique shape of the female foot, which has a narrower heel and midfoot, as well as a higher instep, a longer arch and a unique metatarsal distance. Outsole The rubber outsole of the shoe provides good grip and traction while running. FootPod™ technology is incorporated into the outsole.
