Antique Cast Bronze Statue Medieval Knight Crusader with Axe and Sword c.1700s? : Presented is a beautiful and impressive bronze statue of a Medieval European knight. The knight is wearing the chain mail hauberk with metal plates and a round helmet. He is carrying a battle axe, a sword and a short sword (dagger), and holding a shield with Coat-of-Arms consisting of four crosses that resembless the insignia of the Knights Hospitallers from the First Crusade (1096-1099). His armour is also very similar to the armour of the First Crusade. Cast in bronze, nicely naturally patinated. It came to me from Germany and I was told it is from th 1600 - 1700s. I am not an expert in bronze so I cannot confirm this Judging by style and patination I see it as quite old. The statue is in excellent condition - the bronze iz quite solid, it is not easy to damage it. Beautiful and impressive, it stands 11.5" tall, weighs about 5 lb. Condition: Excellent Year: 1700s?
