Description
Antique Argentine Model 1898 Artillery Short Sword Saber measuring 32" overall with a blade length of 26.12". Very good condition showing scattered age patina, handling wear, scratches. Manufactured by Weyersburg Kirschbaum & Co. Solingen and marked on the ricasso area of the blade. "2" stamped on the top of guard, bottom of guard stamped, "RA" and "370". Remnants of Argentine Crest on the underside of guard, mostly ground off. These were ground off by the Argentine Govt, prior to being exported. The drag on the scabbard drag is stamped "RA 2936", left side of handle is stamped, "1768". Top and bottom of blade spine also has some lettering stamps. The handle and the scabbard shows a brown and silver age patina on it, handle is tight with no looseness. A great looking German made piece. See photos for further details.
