FROM MADEIRA WITH LOVE....! Found in an estate liquidation on the island of Madeira in Portugal, that of a retired antiques dealer. Small scaled antique Portuguese silver hand mirror. Portuguese silver has a purity of 830 / 870. Made of silver, fitted with a beveled glass mirror and a wooden backing. A circle of flowers encapsulate the mirror. The handle with repousse scrolls and leaves. More like a play size or purse mirror, it measures 6 1/2 inches end to end while the mirror component measures 3 1/4 inches in diameter. It has survived in good condition. Some age related spotting on the mirror as well as the kinds of use abrasions one would always find on any used estate silver will be found. The wood backing has a few nicks and scratches as well. There is a Portuguese hallmark on the back of the collar. The handle is free of dents or distortions.
