Print of a Japanese Woodblock ' Kingfisher ' with catch By Kono Bairei (1844-1895) Originally published in the late Meiji period (1880s), this facsimile edition is from 1952, of which we are pleased to offer the entire series. Printed on paper using modern Lithography techniques. The image is printed within borders with a title and Bairei's oval red Hankyo seal. Thus an 'art print' of a Woodcut, and not an original woodblock print (many of which we also have listed, including those of Bairei) The colour scheme owes much to that of the Hokusai Manga, using black, greys and a red/pink ink. There is also a successful combination of the 'new' Japanese realism and the traditional Chinese influenced landscape tradition. Condition as per our photos: (Excellent) Where there are two sheets they have a central gutter, you could fold or trim this as required.
