Preowned, vintage Bonnie Cashin for Coach Portfolio bag, likely made in the mid 1960s. Made from black grained leather, it features a push lock fastener and is lined in Bonnie's signature striped fabric with one zippered pocket inside. Cashin's pieces were always practical yet stylish, and incorporated innovative design elements such as brass turn lock hardware and dog-leash fasteners. This portfolio bag is a great example of her design aesthetic and is so hard to find nowadays. Made in the USA. Pre creed bag with cloth label reading: COACH LEATHERWARE A BONNIE CASHIN DESIGN. Approximate measurements: 14.75in L x 10in H x 2in D with a 2.5in handle drop. Preowned/vintage (55+ years old) with signs of age, use and prior wear: some scratches and rubs to exterior leather, most notable at bottom corners; a small split to the trim on the inside flap (last image, circled); one skinny line on the striped interior fabric (last image, circled). Please note that the stitching on the exterior front and back is black, but the other stitching on sides and bottom look red. We suspect that previous owner recolored (possibly dyed) the two sides with the black stitching. All-in-all, this is a rare and collectible bag that shows nicely despite its cosmetic flaws, but is not for someone seeking a pristine vintage bag.
