Description
Boomer is both a memoire and statement on a generation that the author paints in terms of short essays in counterpoint to a timeline of significant events from birth to the present day. It is a major statement containing unvarnished narrative that barely stops short of a personal confessional while illuminating those of other eras in the the details of actual life experiences of its author to help dispel the social propaganda. Somewhat much to my surprise that as a member of the oldest era still having influence that all of my eight decades of life has left me as little more than one of a pack of faceless villains responsible for all the world's ills. Love it or hate it, this actual saga is an accurate unflinching portrayal of those past times lived along the way. And how the trials experienced during same have worked out at a time close to life's conclusion. As an author Scott Becker did not embody the usual career path of most others. Something that one might expect in someone attempting to fulfill a lifelong vocation. His own road having been wildly meandering in terms of attempting to find a synthesis of text based and visual mediums that might propel him towards his ultimate goal. As yet another child born in the midst of that golden era of post-World War II, 1950’s American Midwestern ‘Boomer’ culture, he hopped, skipped, and jumped back and forth from college bound fine artist aspirations to the rapidly evolving realm of corporate advertising. All along the way picking up on the job skills in periodical production, corporate photography, and the production of entertainment videos. The more explicitly commercial ventures serving as a reliable means of financial support to allow promotion of his own his work in overseas venues. The rapid evolution of the new computer based technological mediums of communication accelerating his latter efforts. ©2025 Scott Becker, "as artist" The book's author retains sole copyright to all material text and visual within this volume.
