Raised in St. Nicholas Projects, during that time, lead to some very hard times. Determined that she would not become a product of her environment, her mother had her involved in various church activities such as the youth ministries, step and Bethel Gospel Assembly's worship dance ministry. Struggling to find her own way and not the way everyone thought she should go, Shoneika started hanging with the wrong crowd and became pregnant at sixteen with her first son. Being a single mother alongside her mother who was a single mother, Shoneika felt like she was just repeating a cycle that was leading nowhere. After dropping out of school for two years to work and support her son, Shoneika went back to school and received her diploma. Shoneika didn't get it right on the first try, nor the second try of relationship's, but was determined to have a family and live out God's purpose for her life. It may have taken years, as we all put God last to seek what we want and not allow Him to be first in our life. After dealing with being in the foster care system as a child, failed relationships and friends who used her, Shoneika decided to take the backseat and let God drive. She broke free of the project mentality and began to look to God to allow her to grow within herself. She is now married to her husband, Lynez, and they are the parents of four talented children. Shoneika serves as an Ambassador for Girlfriend's Pray, which is a ministry geared toward bringing woman around the world closer to God through prayer and fellowship. Shoneika's vision is to bring as many as she can closer to God by motivating them. She lets them know they can overcome the past, start over and be new, which her book "Breakthrough" deals with.
