This is the first Modern Library English language printing of a book first-published in France in 1947. All first printing points are present in the book offered here. They are: "First Printing Copyright, 1948" is on the copyright page...."$1.95" is on the dust jacket's front flap....and at the bottom of the jacket's rear flap the publisher's address does not have a zip code. This book is: The Plague, by Albert Camus, Translated into English by Stuart Gilbert, Published by The Modern Library, 1948, stated first printing. It measures 7 1/4" x 5" and is 278 pages plus two pages of advertisements and in Very Good condition with some gentle overall wear, with a former-owner's name at the top of a blank preliminary page, and with, on the final two blank pages, in soft pencil, four sentences of notes about the text. The dust jacket is not price-clipped (price: $1.95") and in protective mylar. It is in Very Good condition with about 1/2" loss at the spine ends (i.e., please see image #3 below), with some wear along the edges and folds, and with some gentle overall wear. Regarding the book, there is no former-owner's bookplate inside, no foxing, and there are no loose pages.
