His philosophical debut work, The Difference Treatise (1801), highlighted the differences between the systematic forms of Fichte and Schelling, who were seen as having the same position in transcendental philosophy. A book review from the Gakugei Shimbun that refutes skepticism and lays out the foundations of speculative philosophy through trial and error. ``Skepticism Essays'' (1802), which was published in the ``Philosophical Criticism Magazine'' that he published with Schelling, criticized the skepticism that was attracting attention at the time by illuminating the ancient skepticism of Pyrrhon and others, and ``Faith and Knowledge'' (1802), which criticized the philosophy of Kant, Jacobi, and Fichte as reflective philosophies of subjectivity, and also hinted at later developments in Hegel's philosophy. This volume includes works written by Hegel from 1801 to 1803, when he took his first steps as a ``philosopher'', articles published in magazines, book reviews, and related materials.
