Description

Cry the Beloved Country 1948 First Edition by Alan Paton t ells the story of a black Zulu pastor who journeys to Johannesburg seeking his missing son amid racial injustice and social upheaval in South Africa. It explores themes of fear, hope, reconciliation, and the breakdown of traditional life under colonialism and apartheid. The book won the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award for Fiction in 1949. It is also renowned for inspiring the Alan Paton Award, a South African literary prize given annually for meritorious non-fiction works. Additionally, the novel won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize. Dust jacket has been reinforced on the inside at the top and bottom of the spine by tape that has browned over time. There are a few closed tears at the top and bottom of the dust jacket and I've inserted the dust jacket in an archival sleeve to further protect it. ~ ~ ~ Please examine the photos closely. 2. I've been an admirer of Anne Noggle since I saw an exhibit of her work in Rochester, NY, in 1984. I am really excited to have this catalog of her work from a 1980 exhibit. I really appreciate the seller's care with packaging the catalog -- taking care that it wouldn't bend or sustain water damage. Shipping was fast, too. The catalog is just what I expected based on the listing, and I feel it's a really good value. Thank you to the seller!

  3. Fast & easy transaction. Packaged extremely well with a KJV Bible from the same $1.00 sale. Both books arrived in excellent used condition. Better than described. Overall, the two books are an outstanding value and replace a travelling/hospital visitation set I lost many years ago. Communications with the seller were outstanding, she was a true pleasure to do business with and I will watch for future offerings from her. AAAAA+++++
