Description
Custom Handmade Bushcraft Knife – 1095HC – With Kydex Sheath – By Samson Blades – The Cardinal The Samson Blades Cardinal – a rugged, American bushcraft knife built for the outdoors and crafted to last decades. Like all Samson Blades', the Cardinal is built start-to-finish by a single maker—myself. Every blade begins as a high-carbon 1095 steel billet that is hand cut and ground before being heat-treated in a professional knife-making oven at 1500°F and quenched in Parks 50 oil, a quench medium designed specifically for optimal grain refinement in 1095 steel. After this, each blade is tempered via two separate 2-hour cycles at 475°F, resulting in a final hardness between 58–60 HRC—the ideal balance of toughness, edge retention, and field-serviceability for a wilderness tool. This handle was shaped from a trio of natural materials: durable oak, warm maple, and striking red G10 liners that tie the design together. These pieces are secured with brass pins and finished with a hand-rubbed oil that highlights the natural grain and character of the woods. Each handle is shaped free-hand, giving every Cardinal its own unique feel—something only true handcrafting can provide. This dependable bushcraft knife is designed for carving, camp tasks, and general outdoor use. Built with precision, care, and rugged simplicity—The Cardinal, by Samson Blades.
