At that time, he began making high-quality chalk loggers and selling them for $20 a pair. In 1959, Danner developed the first climbing boot in the United States using a Vibram sole, and Danner's Mountain Trail was featured in a backpacker magazine as the easiest boot to climb, making Danner the premier brand in the hiking industry.
