About the Artist: Erté (French, 1892–1990) was a Russian artist and designer known for his glamorous opera sets, jewelry, costumes, and graphic arts. His work is quintessentially emblematic of the Art Deco style in its use of tapering lines and simplified ornamentation inspired by the natural world, and his figurines are internationally known and desired as collectible objects. Born Roman Petrovich Tyrtov on November 23, 1892 in St. Petersburg, Russia to an aristocratic family, he moved to Paris in 1910, disobeying his father’s wishes for him to become a naval officer. In 1915, he secured a contract with Harper’s Bazaar magazine, producing numerous illustrations and other media. Today, Erté’s work can be found in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. He died on April 21, 1990 in Paris, France. Arrived promptly, packaged well, in generally good condition as advertised, though there were some folds around the corners which are not visible post framing, as well as some minor scratches on the face of the print which are generally not visible unless scrutinized closely. It was very easy to work with the seller on price. The print now has pride of place in our living room. Very pleased and would buy from this seller again!
This item was exactly as described. It was timely delivered in very secure packaging. The price was very fair and in line with the overall market. I would not hesitate to recommend this seller to anyone interested in similar items. I’m satisfied with both the purchase and the process.
The piece I bought arrived swiftly - professionally wrapped and in a protective tube. The picture is beautiful - the photos in the post didn’t do it justice. Everything was perfect. It doesn’t get better than that.
