This playful spill vase is an antique gem from the Limoges region in France dating from 1868 to 1883. Semi gloss finish. The piece was modelled by Paul Duboy for Gustave Demartial and Tallandier manufacturer, who prided themselves for being artists first and often used their talents to decorate vases and figurines. The piece features a delightful scene of a young boy, adorned in a blue coat embellished with flowers, standing before a barrel holding and petting a bunny, while a young girl in a floral dress sits nearby, eager to interact with the adorable rabbit. Another hare sits next to the girl nibbling on some delicious grass. The full piece is rendered in vibrant colors and the barrel doubles as the spill vase, with the artist's signature, Paul Duboy, etched into the ground. Spill vases were both functional and decorative, commonly displayed in homes and are now sought after by collectors. Condition – This piece is in remarkable condition given it’s age. We did find any chips, cracks, or crazing. There is a small hairline fracture on the underside of the base of the piece. Please see photos for additional information about the item condition.
