Click images to enlarge Description This is an ORIGINAL cap issued to aviation cadets of the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII, commonly known as the "overseas cap". The cap is the mid to late-War type, the so-called "envelope cap". The cap is made of brown wool gabardine twill fabric with ultramarine and golden orange piping and matched the Cadet blouse made of the same brown "wool elastique" fabric. The cap is in VERY GOOD used condition and is in a man's size 6-7/8 cap size. The cap has a brown satin lining, with a leatherette sweatband, a portion of which is coming unstitched (see last image above). The unusual aspect of this cap is the type of piping, which is in a "X" cross-stitched pattern (see close-up above) . Here's a chance for the advanced WWII Army Air Force collector or Aviation Cadet re-enactor to pick up an unusual variant of the overseas cap for their collection or impression.
