Grand Seiko Watch 6245-9000 First-Generation Automatic GS Lion Medallion Description Condition: Used Production Year/Movement 1966 Ref. 6245-9000 Cal. 6245A Features/Selling Points Grand Seiko's automatic models began production in 1966, six years after the first model, and ceased production about a year before the release of its successor, the 61GS. This rare model was equipped with the first GS model's automatic mechanism, and only movements that passed Seiko's rigorous in-house inspection (excellence standards) were produced. This particular example is an early 62GS model featuring a lion medallion on the case back. Compared to previous Grand Seiko models, including the first model, the sleek case design with the crown positioned at 4 o'clock is eye-catching. Additionally, the mirror-finished, multi-faceted hour and minute hands and indices radiate an elegant shine. This watch is powered by the 35-jewel Cal. 6245A movement. It features a hacking function (seconds stop function) and a calendar function (with fast-forward function). The screw-down case back is highly practical and features a gold lion medallion. It comes with a new, aftermarket brown leather strap. Condition, Scratches, and Accessories: There is some smearing of the lettering and scratches on the case due to aging.
