This auction is for a RARE large ANTIQUE porcelain or ceramic BEAUTIFUL lady figurine in the Victorian style with a parasol and her Poodle on a gold chain leash! What a GORGEOUS WORK OF ART THEY ARE! Her face is LOVELY with HAND PAINTED blue eyes, brows, reddish lipstick and blush. (the Poodle also has HAND PAINTED eyes and eye brows!)Her mouth is partially open and you can see her teeth (?) inside as it is white! Her hair is in long LOVELY corkscrew curls all around as the ladies wore in Victorian times. Her dress, bodice, parasol and Poodle is COVERED with HAND MADE and HAND APPLIED roses and daisies plus other flowers! NO TWO FLOWERS ARE EXACTLY ALIKE! They are just FANTASTIC! The parasol that she is holding has a long post that the "umbrella/parasol part" sits on and the part that goes into her hand and it is is glued there (some of the glue shows but a lot was needed as the parasol is heavy. I can't think of any other way it would stay there unless it was glued so I don't think that this is a defect and just the way it was made. The gold chain for the dog fits into her other curved hand and there is a tiny raised area to hook the leash onto. The dress and parasol are just COVERED with roses and other flowers! The Poodle has what is known as a "Poodle cut" and the body and neck and face are "shaved" or smooth. So the flowers are on his (or her) legs starting at the hip and shoulder to the ankles (and you can see his little paws and toenails!!) and the tail has two flowers where the pom pom at the end would go. The top of his or her head has 3 flowers as does the end of the ears have 1 each. The lady measures 13" tall, 8" wide and 6 1/4" deep. The Poodle measures 4 1/8" tall, 3 3/4" long and 2 1/8" deep. On the bottom of the lady's dress notes: "Ardalt Fiori Bianco No. 5384 Italy" and the Poodle has "Italy" on one of his hind paws on the bottom. Really good condition with no missing flowers or pieces. The gold chain for the dog's leash is discolored or tarnished with age. The parasol post is slightly discolored and the parasol umbrella top part is slightly tilted but I don't know if it wasn't supposed to be that way. You can see some of the glue in her hand (please see last photo) that holds the parasol post and the tiny tip of the post is bent. The little Poodle is also in great condition with no flowers missing or anything wrong. What a WONDERFUL piece to have in your cabinet on display! You would get many compliments for sure!
