It was the belief of the organisers that classification of nations as “neighbours” and “distant neighbours” with reference to India, is an innovation first propounded by the VPM’s CIS; though we do not claim any patent for it! Considering India’s neighbours under two broad categories: The fFirst is our Immediate Neighbours and the second will be Distant Neighbours. About the Author- About The Author: Dr. Rani Desai, the Hon. Director of VPM’s Centre for International Studies, comes with about 30 years of industry experience. Whilst working she had also been visiting faculty in MBA College. During her career she completed her Doctoral studies, and her thesis is in the subject of Empowerment and its impact on Job Satisfaction and Employee Engagement. She designed a model on Building an Empowering Organisation for which she has received copyright. Dr. Desai has worked across diverse sectors and industries including Big4, Deloitte and has held Global Talent Management Position.
