Close associations through familial and business ties to the Roosevelt, Chamberlain, Peabody and Carnegie families along with donations to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Elizabeth D'Hauteville Kean, devoted collector, philanthropist, socialite. Tied to a wealthy political family, she was an avid collector of books. Her correspondence with Roosevelt is documented. She was a major donor to the Cooper Hewitt and was friendly with the Hewitt sisters. Neither women had children.
