Victorian era cast bronze figural doorstop depicting Mr Punch dressed as a Roman Emperor, accompanied by an integral dog at his side. A classic character from the Punch and Judy tradition, produced as a heavy decorative doorstop or mantel ornament. The figure stands approximately 30 cm tall and weighs around 4.9 kg, indicating a substantial and well cast example. The dog is part of the original casting and not a later addition. The bronze surface displays a rich aged patina with areas of natural surface oxidation, including lighter and darker tones consistent with age. Condition is good overall with no breaks or repairs observed. Surface wear and patina are present throughout and should be expected on an antique bronze of this period. A highly decorative and increasingly collectible Victorian bronze doorstop, well suited to traditional interiors or collectors of Punch and Judy memorabilia and period decorative metalwork.
