Description
MCM Vintage 60’s Bitossi Style Italian Ceramic Chalice Pedestal Base Vase. This piece a Mid-Century Modern (MCM) ceramic footed pedestal compote or chalice, used by me as a planter. This piece is handmade and signed by artist. Its design is consistent with Italian art pottery from the 1960s, often associated with makers like Bitossi or companies like Enesco that produced items in a similar style. Sgraffito Decoration: The textured, carved-out geometric patterns on the band and base are a hallmark of "Primitive Modern" Italian pottery. Glaze and Material: The piece is likely tin-glazed stoneware or ceramic. It features a white body with a decorative bronze colored band containing polychrome accents in blue, turquoise and white. Form: A footed pedestal compote, which was a popular decorative form during the mid-20th century.
