Nintendo Virtual Boy ORIGINAL Battery Pack (VUE-007). Clean/Tested/Working Up for sale here is an ORIGINAL nintendo virtual boy battery pack. The pack has been tested with an original virtual boy controller and is working perfectly. The battery terminals are clean and the lid-mechanism is working perfectly. These are extremely hard to find in working condition and really just what you need if you want to take your virtual boy on the go. Plus, IMO, it is more comfortable to play the virtual boy when you're not worried about tangling up the power cable when you use an AC adaptor... The virtual boy was released in 1995 and is probably the biggest flop that nintendo ever had. The problem was not the 3-D system -- its by far the best 3-D effect on a home system that i have ever seen (granted I've not played with the oculus rift or other newer systems ;). The problems were many: The system was expensive ($195 at release), the system was not really portable, the limited colors (red and black), the limited game library and the 'virtual boy motion sickness' effect - which was real. I actually bought one brand-new back in the day at babbage's and while I thought it was very kewl, i didn't think it was $200 cool, so i ended up returning it. However, I was collecting hardcore at the time and when they did pull the plug on the virtual boy, i was there to clean up -- i picked up systems and games at the thrift stores, flea markets and even from blockbuster as well... I built up an impressive collection and even used to sell extra systems on ebay back in the day. However, over the years I picked up several incomplete systems which just got 'put in a box' for the day when i had time to work on them and of course, I never got back to them. Well, today is that day. I'm an old-school collector of videogames and I've finally decided its time to downsize my (massive) collection. My collection runs from the original ODYSSEY home system, pongs and other dedicated systems, through the classic atari 2600 (intellivision, colecovision, 5200, etc), also early home computer systems and games (atari 400/800, commodore, apple, etc) up to the early CD based systems (like jaguar CD and amiga CD32). I also collected tabletops, handhelds and other electronic toys from back in the day.
