Description

ORIGINAL Alessi La Conica by Aldo Rossi, Italian Stainless Steel Espresso Maker Designed in 1983 by legendary Italian architect Aldo Rossi and manufactured in 1984, this art piece and coffee maker is exceedingly rare and with few surviving examples - especially not with the original box, never used. A few are in museums in varying condition, and a smaller version is being sold from Japan; you'd be hard-pressed to find another from this era! A perfect example of postmodernism object design, utilizing simple geometric shapes and the beauty of polished metal to create a coffee maker that compels the eye to look at it. The body is 18/10 stainless steel, and the bottom plate is copper for even heat conduction on the stovetop - an entirely different league from Moka pots. Brews 6 cups of "espresso" (being that this method probably does not generate enough pressure), compared to other smaller models. Hailing from the "experimental and artistic" sub-brand of Alessi (Officina de Alessi) and the product line "La Tavola di Babele" for stainless steel kitchen tools designed by Aldo Rossi, this artifact of interior design set the tone for the later models of Alessi coffee makers; La Conica espresso makers are still sold today at this same price point, but this model is of the original release. A perfect gift for another architect, or anyone with an eye for design. Function and beauty. Note the box has a bit of damage from over the years, from where the tip of the coffee maker and the handle poked against the cardboard. However, there is not a scratch or dent on the item itself. More photos on request, but I prefer to handle it minimally. I'm uncertain if the original papers are inside, as I did not want to poke around in it and misplace the nice interior packing. 1. Nice reasonably priced package. Has to do a bit of cleanup work on the items, but they were listed as used, so that is to be expected. Great communication and excellent packing. Fast shipper - just wish the USPS wasn't so slow from his locale. I would definitely buy from this seller again.
