Description

This book provides an examination of the history and development of maritime law, presenting insights from famous cases and incidents that have shaped the field. The author traces the evolution of legal principles, from ancient maritime codes to modern international treaties, highlighting pivotal moments such as the Peace of Westphalia and the rise of neutral rights in the 18th century. Through an analysis of diverse topics, including the freedom of the seas, the protection of neutral commerce, and the rights and duties of belligerents, the book unveils the complex interplay between legal doctrine and the realities of maritime power. Its comprehensive exploration of maritime law and its historical foundations makes it an invaluable resource for scholars, legal practitioners, and anyone interested in the history of international relations. 1. Forgotten Books is an excellent service - Books are printed to order. The book I ordered is a reprint of a Journal from 1907 - of excellent print quality and I highly recommend the company. The book arrived ahead of schedule. I had a query during the order process and it was answered quickly with helpful feedback. Their websites says over 1 million titles online!
