Description
Rare Antique Early-1800’s Qing Dynasty Chinese Box Bellows with Original Hand Painted Black Lacquer Wooden Case with Piston and Feather Valves. High Quality box Hand-Painted scenes depicting two Geisha Girls on each side by a pagoda with landscape, one Geisha Girl on the top by a pagoda and various vined flowers and fruit on ends. The outlines of the scenes were carved prior to painting the box. Bottom of the box has the US Customs wax stamp from 1977-1978 when it was brought back to the US as a gift to the then US Secretary of Commerce, Juanita M. Kreps. Overall great condition with normal wear consistent with age. Measures approximately 21-3/8” inches (53.34 cm) long, 8-3/8” inches (20.32 cm) wide, 12” inches (30.48 cm) tall. Working bellows, pull/push the piston handle to blow air onto the fire. Please look at all of the pictures and ask questions prior to buying.
