A prime reason for the absence of proactive approaches in disaster/hazard management is the uncertainty or ambiguity present in the links between the environment and the hazards. This is one of the first books to focus on explicit linkages between the changing environment and disasters and suggests better approaches towards disaster management. A ready-reference for field practitioners it combines academic research and field practices and covers areas such as: elements of environmental entry (water-related disasters, desertification and land degradation, typhoon risk management, catastrophic flood and forest management, and coastal issues); impacts of environment and disaster (livelihoods impacts, human health: post-disaster waste management); and strategies, planning and the way forward (climate change adaptation as a planning tool, urban planning and land use planning, mangrove management as a coastal planning tool, and environment disaster education and risk communication). I've ordered from Rarewaves here in the US and the UK multiple times, and continue to do so. They always seem to have something I can't find anywhere else at all or for a reasonable price. When I purchase used items, they are as described, if not a grade better. Aways a quick turnaround after ordering, every item arrives promptly, professionally packaged. Many orders have free shipping, even for solitary item orders. I never needed a reason to communicate, as I've had no cause. Recommended.
Received item as described and packaged well. Listing indicated shipping was free. Ordered on the 7th but by the 14th noticed it hadn’t been shipped yet. Seller responded quickly saying that during the purchase process that it said it would not be shipped until the 22nd because they use a fulfillment house. I don’t recall seeing anything about delayed shipping during the process or in the listing. While I appreciate the prompt response to my inquiry, other buyers should be aware of delays.
The book was brand still plastic wrapped. Looks exactly like the picture for a reasonable price including shipping. In perfect condition. Shipping was slow and I was worried that I was scammed again. Seller did respond to my message after a day and explained the item would be shipped within a week. The item shipping and tracking was updated by the date they stated. Took about 2 weeks to receive item. I’m usually impressed when item is shipped and received within a week.
