This quite rare figurine is antique gem from Thuringia, Germany, and dates to around 1860s. The piece is unmarked. The style and execution are characteristic of bisque porcelain produced in Thuringia. The piece alludes to the American civil war and the north and south divide. The black girl represents the south, and the boy represents the north. This model has popped up in the market only a handful of times. This is an extremely rare piece that would be a fantastic addition to collectors of black and civil war memorability. Condition – This figurine is in excellent condition for its age. The colors are in fantastic shape. We did not find any chips, or damage. Please, see pictures for additional details. The figurine measures approximately 5” (L) x 4.5″ (W) x 10.5″ (H).   1. The figurine arrived quickly and was exactly as described. I collected porcelain figurines made by the Pattarino School in Italy, and they are very old and fragile. Half the time when they are shipped to me they sadly arrive in pieces. But this buyer did a superb job wrapping and protecting the figurine for shipment and it arrived in perfect condition! Bravo!
