The piece was designed by renowned glass and ceramicist Vicke Lindstrand. It appears not many of these pieces were made. The uniqueness of this piece lies in that it was achieved using the Ariel technique. With this technique, colored patterns or motifs are encased between layers of clear glass. The technique is complex and time consuming requiring an experienced glass master to execute it. The technique allows for intricate internal decoration with a sense of depth and floating imagery. This vase is called Summer, and it complements the autumn pattern. Condition - The vase is in excellent condition with no chips or damage. The are subtle scratches in the bottom on the piece which are common in used glass vases. Please see photos for additional information about the item condition. Approximate measures: 4.5” (L) x 4.5″ (W) x 6.75″ (H). Weight: 6.2 lbs. Vicke Lindstrand (1904–1983) was a leading figure in 20th-century Swedish glass design. He served as artistic director at Kosta Glasbruk from 1950 to 1973, where he introduced bold, colorful designs that helped define the mid-century modern aesthetic in Scandinavian glass. Lindstrand was instrumental in developing the Ariel technique, a pioneering method of glass decoration. His work is recognized for its technical innovation and artistic clarity and is held in major museum collections including MoMA and the Victoria and Albert Museum. 1. The statue was as described but arrived broken. This was a delicate porcelain figurine with outstretched arms and fingers. It was wrapped in large bubble wrap and tightly surrounded with Styrofoam peanuts. The box was thin walled so any pressure would and did cause damage. Items like this should always be double boxed with softer wrap to allow some give. I would not buy delicate items from this seller. Fortunately, I did get a refund.
