Offered is this lovely ruby-stained spooner in a pattern called Red Blcok. This pattern of Early American Pattern Glass was introduced in the late 1800s, manufactured by several companies. It features a pattern of red stained hexagonal blocks encircling the piece. In the late Victorian era, spooners were used to hold coffee spoons for guests, or family members, who dropped by for a cup of coffee or hot tea. The spoon holder stands 4.25 inches high (11 cm). The spooner is in very good used condition. No chips or cracks. The ruby staining is intact. The last photo shows the spooner with a matching domed butter dish, which is being listed separately.
