These crystals were first discovered in 1986 in the Magaliesberg Mountain Range near Pretoria, South Africa. It occurs as quartz, citrine and amethyst, and comes in a wide range of colors, including purple amethyst, violet amethyst, smoky, milky clear and golden citrine. FAQ/Tips Crystals are priced by quality, color and size. Purple amethyst is more highly prized and will cost more for a smaller lesser quality crystal. Lavender is the most common color and where you will find the best quality/value for price Crystals change colors with changes in type angle and intensity of light.
