Seiko 8123-5240 Product Description Product Overview The Seiko 8123-5240 is a vintage quartz wristwatch from Seiko’s “Chronos” series, introduced in the 1980s. The 8123 movement was manufactured between 1980 and 1990, and based on the serial number, this particular piece was most likely produced in May 1985.It features a clean and minimalist design with a white dial, black stick hands and indices, and a date window at 3 o'clock. This simple yet refined aesthetic makes it a versatile timepiece suitable for both casual and formal occasions. The watch is powered by a Seiko 8123 quartz movement, known for its accuracy of ±15 seconds per month — an excellent standard for quartz watches. Recent short-term testing showed no noticeable deviation in time. A notable feature is the bilingual day display, which allows switching between English and Japanese. Please note that the day display alternates every 24 hours, so manual adjustment may be needed daily to maintain your preferred language setting. Condition There are several light scratches on the crystal, but they do not affect visibility or hinder checking the time. There are also some scratches on the case and bracelet, so please refer to the photos for details. The battery was replaced in May 2025. The typical battery life for this model is approximately 5 years, but this may vary depending on usage, so please consider it as a general guideline. The bracelet is an original genuine Seiko band. Usage Instructions How to Change the Day of the Week: Pull the crown out to the first click. Turn the crown clockwise (toward the 6 o’clock position) to change the day. The day display alternates between Kanji and English (e.g., MON → 月 → TUE → 火). If you prefer to keep the day display in either English or Kanji, you may need to manually adjust it daily to prevent it from alternating. After setting, push the crown back in. How to Change the Date: Pull the crown out to the first click. Turn the crown counterclockwise (toward the 12 o'clock position) to change the date. Push the crown back in after setting. How to Change the Time: Pull the crown out to the second click. Turn the crown to adjust the time (typically clockwise, but this may vary by model).
