Starring Monte Blue, Dorothy Burgess and Noah Beery and directed by Chester M. Franklin. REVIEW 'One thing I'm not interested in,' Monte Blue makes a point of explaining from the screen of the Beacon this week, 'is women.' His disinterest, inspired by the unhappy circumstance that his wife has gone to Paris for a divorce, has a fairly malignant influence on his behavior. From big business he descends into the stoke hole. He turns up in a Nicaraguan saloon and becomes an aggressive busybody, punching amorous drunks and thereby instituting a temporary unemployment wave among the dancing girls. Finally he punches a grizzled bandit and that provides the motivation, if any were needed, for a bloody battle between good and evil on a coffee plantation. There is a girl mixed up in it, and Mr. Blue changes his mind about women in time for a reassuring fadeout. 'The Stoker' is an action picture strictly, which is another way of calling it uncerebral. It is not burdened with any particular theme, message or dogma. Attentive visitors may find it possible to conclude that love is an emotion that does things to a man. The best thing in it is Mr. Beery's portrait of the bandit chief. --The New York Times DVDs ARE REGION 1 UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED Missing Information?
