Description

Tamiya ventured into the modeling business in 1948, with a scale wooden ship model kit. Since then, Tamiya has been striving to offer merchandise that can truly be called 'First in Quality Around the World.' Now Tamiya is offering more than 300 different products, both in the fields of precision static models and high performance radio control vehicles. These products are not only sold in Japan but also exported in vast quantities to the United States, Europe, South East Asia, and to many other parts of the world. The standard of excellence achieved by Tamiya is regarded as among the very finest in the world of model hobbies. The USS Hammann (DD-412) was a Sims class destroyer that was commissioned in 1939. In 1942, she rescued men from the stricken aircraft carrier Lexington. However, she may be best known for her final moments, in the Battle of Midway. Having rescued the crew of the badly-damaged USS Yorktown aircraft carrier, it remained alongside to assist with repairs when the ships were attacked by a Japanese I-168 submarine, the Hammann eventually taking a torpedo and sinking. The Tamiya model kit faithfully captures all the details of this historic ship. Tamiya's designers have taken great care in researching the archives to bring the avid modeler the most accurate scale model. This finely detailed plastic model kit requires assembly and painting.

  1. This Tamiya 1/700 scale model kit is fantastic! The detail is crisp, assembly is smooth, and the instructions are clear—perfect for both beginners and experienced builders. The Hammann destroyer looks incredibly realistic once completed, and the quality lives up to Tamiya’s reputation. A must-have for naval history fans and model enthusiasts!
