The New Perspective for Retirement Planning by William L. Clarke Estimated delivery 3-12 business days Format Paperback Condition Brand New Description THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RETIREMENT PLANNING AND FINANCIAL PLANNING. Over the years "retirement" planning has become an accepted term for the financial component of a retirement plan. Most books on "retirement planning" deal almost exclusively with "financial planning". Financial planning is vital, but there is much more to retirement planning than getting your financial house in order. Financial planning deals with money matters. Retirement planning enhances and expands on the financial plan by incorporating the many other personal, psychological and practical issues that you must anticipate and plan for in order to create a more complete and comprehensive retirement plan. THE NEW PERSPECTIVE FOR RETIREMENT PLANNING provides a simple, ten step process to incorporate the non-financial issues into your retirement plan. If you have done a good job of planning your financial future, take the time now to consider the many other issues that you must plan for in retirement. If you haven't as yet developed a solid financial plan, start there and then use this book as your guide to complete the other important components of your retirement plan. Author Biography William L. Clarke, Author I am a veteran retiree. I still do some part-time teaching and consulting, but none of my prior experience had anything to do with retirement planning. My credentials for writing the book are based solely on personal retirement experience. The theory behind the book is simple: if you want medical advice, go to a doctor; if you want legal advice, go to an attorney; if you want retirement advice, go to a veteran retiree. I have an undergraduate degree in marketing from the University of Dayton and an M.B.A. from Xavier University in Cincinnati. In my career I was a management consulting partner with a major global firm where I focused on systems, logistics and strategic planning. I am a part-time professor of management and marketing. I've retired three times but always seemed to stumble onto something compelling that brought me out of retirement. During my first retirement, I experienced a form of depression (the Post-Retirement Syndrome described in the book) that I couldn't quite explain since retirement is supposed to be a rewarding, relaxing and happy experience. When I reviewed numerous books on retirement planning I quickly learned that the majority of them focused rather exclusively on financial planning. That experience aroused my interest in whether other retirees experienced a similar depression. Since I was a trained management consultant, I took on the task of examining this condition as a consulting project. I researched extensively anything I could find about retirement planning. As I went through the process, I developed a fascination about why most books on retirement planning actually dealt with financial planning. I knew from experience that financial planning is vital but so are a great many other non-financial issues; including the awareness that some retirees might experience a similar depression that I experienced. The book has a very strong differentiation. It creates a new perspective for showing the difference between retirement planning and financial planning. You will come to realize that you spend a relatively small amount of time with financial issues in retirement, but just about all of your time on all the other things you will do that will provide you with a happy and fulfilling retirement experience. It makes sense to spend more time creating a complete and comprehensive retirement plan that goes beyond financial planning.
