While Nobuyoshi Araki was causing a sensation in Japan during the 1970s and 80s with magazines like "Shashin Jidai," Kishin Shinoyama led major movements through his "Gekisha" series and "Sharaku" magazine, consistently staying at the forefront of the era. In "TOKYO NUDE," Shinoyama juxtaposes female nudes within overwhelming urban landscapes. By doing so, he effectively "stripped bare" the city of Tokyo itself amidst the frenzy of the Bubble Economy era.
