United States Navy WAVES Bullion Sleeve Insignia. I believe this one is for US Naval Academy midshipmen second class. Most likely 1940s (ww2) era. This is a relatively smaller size than standard navy rank insignia, which was utilized for WAVES. Size approximately 4 1/8 inches x 3 inches. Arm sleeve rating. Worn condition. The patch does not react to UV light (does not glow under blacklight). Additional Notes: The United States Naval Reserve (Women’s Reserve), better known as the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service), was the women’s branch of the United States Naval Reserve during WW2.
