USMC Military Challenge Coins - LOT OF 2, II MEF 231st Birthday Commemoration

Every year on 10 November, US Marines and Marine Corps commands worldwide celebrate the birthday of the Corps. Quite often, the official celebrations include mementoes such as mugs/glasses, letter openers, or challenge coins. This is a lot of 2 such challenge coins from the 2006 birthday celebration hosted by II Marine Expeditionary Force (II MEF) at MCB Camp Lejeune, NC. These are high quality brass, with an epoxy coating for a durable finish that will protect the sheen for many years to come. They are 1.75” in diameter and 1/8” thick. The obverse depicts the logo of II MEF and its motto: “Come to Fight, Come to Win.” The reverse features the logos of the major command elements comprising II MEF - the 2d Marine Division, 2d Marine Air Wing and 2d Marine Logistics Group - with the legend “Happy 231st Birthday Marines.” This is a must for collectors of military memorabilia in general, and for collectors of Marine Corps militaria in particular.
