Offered here are a pair of HEAVY metal bookends. I THINK they are brass. (Or at least have a brass surface plate.) Each features a book with wings. The tip of a feather quill pen is protruding from the flying book. The base is another book, and is marked, "THOUGHTS ON WINGS." The bottom / back of the base is embossed, "Copyright JB 1473." (This mark is a bit hard to see.) Online, I saw another example of these that the seller had described as being made by "Jennings Brothers circa 1925," but I admit that I don't know for certain. (I'm counting on the BUYER to know what they are bidding on.) The base on each measures 5 & 1/4 inches long, by 3 & 1/4 inches wide. They are 6 & 1/2 inches tall at thew tips of the wings. They are in overall GOOD condition. The brass surface finish is mostly very nice & glossy. Look hard enough, and you see some small scattered "blemishes" - but nothing too serious. THE GREEN FELT IS MISSING FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF ONE BOOKEND. The set displays very nicely , and they are guaranteed to be old & original, or your money back.
