What do I know about meat cleavers? Not much. Here are the details as I see them: This cleaver has the date 1951 engraved on the blade. The blade is engraved with: (as you will see in the pictures) U.S.M.C., Village blacksmith Company CONT.DA-N-009-OM-7353 1951 The overerall length is approximately 14 inches and is 4 inches at the wide end. The wooden handle is sturdy and the metal blade tang extends all the way through the handle fastened by three rivets. There is NO crack on the handle. On one side there are 2 rivets missing. The handle is secure. There is no off odor and the handle feels clean and dry--not greasy. If I have missed any important facts, please feel free to ask!
